DESCRIPTION:Bistro och bar öppnar klockan 16:00 På scen ca 20:00.\n\nPa
ul Collins formed The Beat in 1977\, recruiting members of various rock b
ands including Steven Huff\, Larry Whitman\, Dennis Conway and Michael Ru
iz. The result was The Beat\, a high energy rock group in the style of Th
e Ramones\, Blondie and The Dictators. As the story goes\, Collins was aw
arded a record deal with CBS thanks to his friend Eddie Money and Bill Gr
aham Management. The Beat played with many bands\, including The Jam\, Pe
re Ubu\, The Police\, Eddie Money\, The Plimsouls and Huey Lewis. The Bea
t became Paul Collins’ Beat when a ska band from the UK began using The
Beat as their moniker.\n\nAbout The Nerves: Formed in San Francisco by t
he late Jack Lee (guitar)\, Peter Case (bass)\, and Paul Collins (drums)
in 1974 and later based in Los Angeles\, The Nerves proved – for but a
brief\, shining moment – one of the most exhilarating and influential b
ands in the annals of power pop\, bridging proto-punk energy and jangly m
elodies with a fierce DIY spirit.\n\nBoasting three incredibly gifted son
gwriters\, the band made rock ‘n’ roll history with their eponymous 1
976 EP \, released on Greg Shaw’s iconic Bomp! Records label and featur
ing four now-classic tracks including Lee’s “Hanging on the Telephone
\,” made famous\, of course\, two years later by Blondie on their break
through third album\, Parallel Lines.\n\nWithout any record company suppo
rt\, The Nerves took the bull by the horns and booked their own national
tour – unheard of in those day…
