 epressibly creative approaches to jazz.\n\nHailing from Belgium but havin
 g called Oslo home since 2008\, pianist and composer Jonas Cambien is bot
 h a progeny of and a formative influence on the city’s free jazz and im
 provisational scene. Maca Conu embodies Cambien’s astuteness in selecti
 ng and nurturing some of the most creative and dynamic actors in this lan
 dscape. The group features Signe Emmeluth on alto and tenor saxophones\, 
 Ingebrigt Håker Flaten on double bass\, Andreas Wildhagen on drums\, and
  cements the membership of trombonist Guro Kvåle\, who featured on two t
 racks of their inaugural album. With their blistering spiritual free jazz
 \, abstract meanderings\, rebellious hooks\, and robust live performances
 \, Maca Conu has been amassing devotees.\n\nCambien has a background in c
 lassical music as well as jazz\, and focuses on contemporary music\, free
  jazz and improvised music. Originally\, there was the Jonas Cambien Trio
 \, a band that was active for several years and released three albums on 
 Clean Feed\, a label that was at the core of adventurous jazz for over tw
 o decades. With Maca Conu\, Cambien has aimed to carry forth and evolve t
 he originality of the musical language that defined the Trio. In 2024\, t
